There Goes Emily Morganstern
Impatient Emily Morganstern
Never waited for her turn.
She pushed and shoved with a mad'ning whine
Till she was first in any line.
Tapping shoulders and stepping on toes,
And once she succeeded she'd hold her nose
High in the air in victory
Allowing everyone to see
That SHE was EMILY MORGANSTERN,
Who never waited for her turn.
Folks were disgruntled and not amused,
Such outrageous rudeness could not be excused.
Life demands that all of us
Should wait in line without a fuss;
Good natured patience is a lesson to learn
By simply waiting for our turn.
But good natured patience was something to spurn
By impatient Emily Morganstern.
In fact, when Emily spied a line
Her devilish eyes would start to shine.
Where the line went - didn't matter
As long as Emily had a chance to shatter
Any line that was orderly and straight -
Comprised of people taught to wait,
Who knew that waiting could be a bore,
But soon they'd get what they were waiting for.
Emily didn't care where a line led.
She just nudged and bumped till she got ahead,
Enjoying the chaos that she created
Among the folks who politely waited.
Now you must realize this was not fair,
But who would complain - and who would dare
To chide and scold Emily Morganstern,
Who never waited for her turn.
They all agreed that something should be done,
But no none wanted to be the one
To shake Emily up and make her see
That patience was a necessity.
So it continued, this ill-mannered trait,
Never would Emily Morganstern wait.
In fact, my dears, it grew worse I'm afraid,
And oh, the enemies Emily made.
But the more she angered, the more she annoyed,
The more Emily Morganstern obviously enjoyed!
Checkout lines at the local store,
Lines for movies meant instant war!
What a knack Emily Morganstern had,
But now it's all over - because something bad
Happened to Emily Morganstern
Who never waited for her turn.
One fateful day she saw a long line,
And posted near by was a warning sign
Asking folks to PLEASE STAND BACK!
But to Emily this meant . . . Onward! . . . Attack!!!
She jumped into that line with vigor and vim,
She jiggled and jogged and didn't give in;
And as per usual, she got her way,
But Oh! The price she had to pay!
For that line, my dears, let me tell you,
Was formed so people could have a view
Of a rocket about to blast . . .
What occurred next happened so fast
Everyone's talking about it yet,
A sight that no one will ever forget!
The countdown finished, the rocket roared . . .
With a hurricane wind - off it soared,
Emily standing so close was caught in a gale
And whisked along with the rocket's tail!
So somewhere in space - never to return,
Floats impatient Emily Morganstern!
